Dearest Readers –
As autumn attempts to settle in over the Neighborhood Art House, the lingering heat invites our youth to extend their creativity beyond the walls of the studio. The air hums with energy as students take advantage of the sunshine, play games, participate in neighborhood clean-ups, and bring their art outside to draw still life scenes directly from nature. Even amid the warmth, the season overflows with vibrant creativity and joyful discovery as October’s workshops inspire exploration and connection in every corner of the Art House.
On Mondays, the dance space shines with the joyful motion of Hoop Dance, where hula hoops twirl through the air in dazzling displays of coordination and creativity. Students strengthen their focus and self-expression, all while having fun through movement.
Tuesdays bring rhythm, laughter, and excitement as students explore Latin Dancing, where the spirited steps of merengue, bachata, and salsa encourage teamwork, rhythm, and a deeper appreciation of global culture.
Wednesdays burst with color and cheerful chatter in the Crafting Fun workshop, where nimble hands string vibrant beads into friendship bracelets and fashion delightful fall-inspired creations to take home and display. Each sparkling combination of colors and patterns reveals a bit of the maker’s own spirit, celebrating both creativity and the warmth of friendship.
Fridays are alive with energy as students join in Well-Known Dance Trends, moving through line dances, party favorites, and social media-inspired steps, expressing themselves while connecting with peers.
On October 2, we welcomed Mr. Dean Brown of Neuromotion Athletics, whose workshop blended science, movement, and mindfulness. Students learned how the brain and body work together to enhance focus, strengthen coordination, and promote both physical and mental well-being.
And on October 9, our own Executive Director, Kelly Stolar, will lead a Baton Twirling Demonstration that will bring excitement and sparkle to the day. Students will first observe and then try their hands at manipulating a baton while discovering the artistry within every spin and toss.
As the season unfolds, the halls of the Neighborhood Art House overflow with enthusiasm, imagination, and the spirit of learning. We look forward to seeing how October’s workshops continue to inspire creativity, friendship, and growth in every corner of our Art House.
If you have a special artform to share, please contact us. We would love to hear your ideas and hopefully add you to the schedule!
Yours Truly, Lady Whistlenote
