With tremendous self-discipline and a self-sacrificing attitude the intrepid Art House reporter has come in from the wonderful sunshine! The wee flowers that will come to grace the front of our building are peeking out from the ground. Inside, the art is blooming as well - and some colorful birds and fish have also been seen around the building! Believe it or not, the term is closer to its ending than its beginning. It seems to this reporter that classes just began! The intrepid reporter has also discovered some Neighborhood Art House artists have work on display at Mount Saint Benedict Monastary. The pictures below are just some examples of artistic brilliance on offer over at the Mount. The annual women's art show on display until the end of the month features both teachers and student artists amongst the wonderful art done by sisters, oblates, and friends.
The pilot program for community art opportunities continues to grow with inspiring gusto. This past week there was a still-life drawing class where the participants were pleasantly surprised at the results of their efforts, and the latent artistic talent that was lying just below the surface. And it will be difficult to get to sleep tonight, as the intrepid reporter waits for what is sure to become a brand-new Spring tradition - a workshop with the wonderful Chris Bowler, painting pots and planting some Spring flowers. There will be pictures and a report next week!
Next Thursday's community class is with the inestimable Sarah Everett, the community art director herself, teaching a multi-part class on Relief Printmaking. That will be very interesting indeed!
