Our Community Art Program’s Third Anniversary

It is hard to believe that we have made it to year three of our community art program. Time flies when you’re having fun! As we look back, we can’t help but chuckle at some of the wonderful moments we’ve shared. Here’s a look at what we’ve learned along the way.

One of our primary goals when we started this program was to create a space where people could explore their creativity without judgment. Watching participants develop their skills and confidence has been one of the most rewarding aspects of our program. We have hosted numerous workshops that appeal to all skill levels, encouraging everyone to express themselves through different mediums.

Seeing someone go from feeling unsure about their artistic abilities to proudly displaying their work is incredibly fulfilling. It’s not just about creating art; it’s about fostering personal growth and building self-esteem within our community.

One of our favorite parts has been how art brings people together. People from different backgrounds came together, sharing stories while painting or giving ideas to each other while coordinating colors for a mural project… Community art isn’t just about individual expression; it’s about connection.

It’s essential that our community art reflects the richness of our backgrounds and experiences. We actively sought out artists from various cultural and social backgrounds. The creativity we’ve witnessed has been a breath of fresh air, and we’re proud to provide a platform where all voices can be heard.

Art can be a powerful catalyst for change and is a fantastic way to address serious topics. We have seen firsthand how art can create safe spaces for participants to express their feelings and experiences, sometimes resulting in pieces that left us dragging into deep thoughts or laughing out loud…

There’s so much potential for further growth, collaboration, and creativity. We want to continue exploring new themes and partnerships that can deepen our impact. We cannot thank our generous donors enough for enabling us to move forward, dream about future projects and diversify our offerings.

Reflecting on these past three years, we can’t help but smile at the incredible journey we have had together. We are thrilled to keep this momentum going, inspire one another, and create even more magic through art. Here’s to more creativity, collaboration, and community in the years to come!

Special Thanks to our Community Art Director Sarah Everett, to the instructor-artists who contributed their artistic gifts and expertise to the program, as well as the fabulous students who have helped to make this new endeavor a reality.
